I am an investment banker. I love my job. I love helping companies grow and prosper. I love the adrenaline rush that comes from working with a large, powerful company.

What time does an investment banker start work?

Most investment bankers start work around 8 am, and the job is generally done by 3 pm. That’s because they have to go through the daily “market reports” to understand the market and the latest trends.

Then, they check the company’s earnings report and other information it releases. This gives them a good idea of where they stand in the overall market and helps determine whether or not they should be investing in that company’s stock.

After that, they might talk to a few people in the industry, and if they’re feeling it, they might ask a few questions. They also check the daily newspaper for market news and look at the headlines and charts to see what’s happening worldwide.

Once done with their research, they write a recommendation letter for the company. If they feel strongly about it, they might spend a few hours on the phone, talking to the CEO, CFO, and COO, getting more information.

They might ask a colleague for a recommendation if they feel they can’t decide. They might talk to a professional if they’re struggling with it.

If the recommendation is approved, they write a few lines of the recommendation letter and then send it off to the company. They might ask a colleague for more information if unsure about the company.

If they still don’t feel confident about it, they’ll call up a few more people in the industry and maybe ask questions.

Once satisfied, they write another recommendation letter for the CEO, CFO, and COO.

Working environment

Investment banks are the epicenter of the global financial system. And while most people associate investment banking with large institutions, a whole world of smaller firms exists.
